QuickTime Alternative 1.95

QuickTime Alternative 1.95 is a codec package for Microsoft Windows created for playing QuickTime files (.MOV). Normally, Apple Inc.'s official QuickTime software is required to play back QuickTime .MOV video files.

What is QuickTime Alternative?
QuickTime Alternative allows your system to play QuickTime movie files (.mov) without having to install the full version of the Quicktime Player. It includes the browser plugins to allow seemless playback of movies within webpages.

It comes bundled with Media Player Classic - a freeware media player that supports both QuickTime Alternative and Real Alternative.

QuickTime Alternative uses codecs taken from QuickTime 7.[1] As such, many question its legitimacy as the codec package is not a licensed Apple product, nor is the specific version of QuickTime that the codec is taken from available free of charge. Also included are the latest versions of CoreAVC and CoreAAC, as well as Media Player Classic, the QuickTime web browser plugin, which supports Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Mozilla and Netscape.

Previous versions, since removed (see below), included a DirectShow source filter and decoder wrapper which enable all DirectShow based players such as Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic to play QuickTime files.
